Social Science Exhibition
For the expression of science aptitude, Social Science Exhibition is an effective medium. Through it, the school students get a beautiful opportunity expression of their achievements and programmes. Objectives of Holding Science Exhibition
The NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training described the following objectives of holding a science fair :

(iii) To attract the participating students towards science-related tasks in order to prepare them for future cooperation.

(v) To identify future scientists and encourage them to come forward.
(vi) To provide an opportunity for the comparative study of science clubs.

The organisation of the Social Science Exhibition
Keeping in view the educational significance of science fairs, they are being encouraged in various ways. The NCERT has prepared a draft for the organisation of science fairs through the Extension Service Department association with Stanley Marshall (Professor of Science Education, Florida State University, Tallahassee), on the basis of which the following things should be kept in view while organizing a Social Science Exhibition:
- Finances. It is necessary that the finances for different students be arranged in advance. For it, the assistance of external institutions can also be taken besides the school sources.
- Sponsorship. There can be one or more sponsors. It depends upon the size and situation of the school.

(i) Advisory Committee. This committee can be constituted of school authorities, besides other persons from out of school can also be taken in it who are desirous of progress in science. Their chief function is to provide encouragement and advice.

(vii) Evaluation Committee. The responsibility of this committee is to appoint judges and to construct a guidance letter for them.

(ix) Award Committee. The responsibility of this committee is to prepare recommended awards and citations.
(X) Programme Committee. Its responsibility is to finalise the dates of commencement and conclusion of the science fair.
Some Precautions
For the successful organisation of a science fair, the following precautions must be kept in view:
- Date. The most suitable period for organising a science fair is the long vacation during the session. It would be more advantageous if this is towards the end of the session.
- Canvassing. Another important need for the success of a science fair is suitable and extensive canvassing.
- Field of Participation. It should be decided in advance: Who can participate in the science fair and to which field should they belong? This can be from the town level to the national level.
- Printed Material. Different papers, such as posters, registration cards, citations, mark sheets, etc. should be printed in advance. All programme-related details and important conditions and rules for participation in the science fair. The teachers should, at their personal level, encourage the maximum number of schools for sending their teams.
- Time Cycle. The students should be given at least a time of three weeks for preparing their display.
- Place. Whatever place is selected for the science fair, it should be convenient for the viewpoint of conveyance. The fair should be organized in such a place where the space is sufficient and no hindrance or problem is faced due to shortage of space.
- Programme. Different programmes to be organized during the science fair should be planned in advance.

- A place for Every Team. It should be ensured that all participating teams are given a suitable place in the exhibition.

- Entrance and Exit. There should be proper arrangements for the display of the items in the stalls. The people should be able to enter and exit the stalls and halls without touching things conveniently.
