Ans. During an interview, the perceptual errors that we should try to avoid as an interviewer are:
1. The tone for the interview must be set and the interviewer and the interviewee must be set
and they must be motivated to communicate freely and accurately.
2. Ifthe interviewer observes tension offer interviewee, he may use a few words of encouragement and show the genuine concern.
3. Once the rapport has been built, the purpose of the interview should be explained clearly.
4. The information which the interviewer wants to gather from the interviewee will determine the type of questions to be asked. The basic choice for the interviewer in framing questions is whether questions will be open questions or the closed questions.
5. The interview must be summed up by stating any action that one is going to take or anything expected of the interviewee after the meeting.
6. The interview results are adversely affected by interviewer’s mode of asking questions and
interactions and incorrect recording and else are the respondent’s faulty perception, faulty memory, inability to articulate, etc. So, such errors must be avoided.
